John Mayall - No More Interviews

EDIT: If anyone has either Mayall's 'Time Capsule' or 'UK Tour 2K', then I'd appreciate a copy and so would a few visitors to this blog!

This has to be the hardest John Mayall album to find, it has never, to my knowledge, made it onto a CD. There was a blog site on the net offering this album but the link was broken. Forgive me my little rant for the moment, but I understand if people don't have time to work on a blog, and I know rapidshare deletes inactive links after 90 days, but if people request an upload either do it or delete the blog.

Anyway, having given up on this, I went to my friend John who has given me a few albums for this blog, and he kindly sent it to me.

Now, my reason for collecting this album is not actually Fleetwood Mac related. I do like John Mayall and I have pretty much all of his albums. I didn't even know that Rick Vito appeared on this album until John told me. So thankfully because Rick did appear on the album John actually had it in his collection and forwarded it on to me.

So, here it is. John Mayall sounding alternatively like John Mayall, Bob Seger, Elton John and who knows what else. Terrible album in parts, and easy to see why it never made a CD release. However, in other parts, it is typical Mayall fare, and enjoyable on most tracks all the same.

We don't actually know which songs Rick Vito is on, but he is on there somewhere. Good luck finding him!

Ashkan - In From The Cold

My second upload of slightly Fleetwood Mac related music, is the Ashkan album that a guy called Craig (we know each other from the Fleetwood Mac Ledge) emailed me today.

Now some people like albums that feature a particular Fleetwood Mac artist even if they don't feature on the vocals. My passion has almost always been collecting albums that the FM member in question sings on and generally is the main feature of the album. However, through the kindness of a few of my fellow Mac fans, I have obtained MP3 files of a few albums where the FM member may only be playing guitar for example.

So, in the interests of sharing I have passed this along to you. In parts this album actually isn't too bad, but like the Chimera album I have posted before, I think you need some sort of mind altering drugs to really appeciate it.

Now there are a couple of other Bob Weston related albums - King Brilliant by Howard Werth and the Moonbeams, and Live Your Life by The Kinetic. I don't have these, but for your information they are out there (and by the looks of things can actually still be bought on the net).

Source: Craig downloaded it from http://chrisgoesrocks.blogspot.com/ although I can't find a trace of the album on there now.

Chimera - Chimera

I have to admit that I am running out of hard to find Fleetwood Mac albums by Fleetwood Mac members. So, to give you a few more things to listen to I am going to add a couple of albums where the link to Fleetwood Mac is a bit weak.

The first one of these albums is by Chimera, a band that included Lisa Bankoff and Francesa Garnett. For our purposes it also included Bob Weston on guitar on a few tracks - specifically tracks 1, 4, 6, 7, 8 and 10.

Now there is a reason they call this acid folk, and that is because you folk have to be on acid to actually understand this album. I'm not, so I don't. Oh well.

Peter Green - Various Tracks

While I was sorting through my Peter Green tracks for the previous post, I thought I should post a few other miscellaneous tracks that aren't so common. I'm not saying that they are hard to find, they just aren't on the studio releases.

1 - Apostle (single version)
2 - Whatcha Gonna Do (not actually on the album of that name)
3 - Rubbing My Eyes
4 - Long Way From Home
5 - Six String Guitar
6 - You Won't See Me Anymore
7 - Carry My Love
8 - Woman Don't (B Side to 1980 single "Walkin' The Road" from "Little Dreamer" album)
9 - Touch My Spirit
10 - Corner Of My Mind
11 - Bandit (different version to the one that appears on "Kolors")

I've put them all on the same download simply because I couldn't be bothered uploading 11 separate mp3s. Hope you find something in there that you haven't got in your collection!

Peter Green - Singles

In 1971 Peter Green released a single Heavy Heart with the B side being No Way Out. A year later he released a single Beasts of Burden with the flip side being Uganda Woman.

Now these four songs are pretty hard to come by, so when I received a request through the blog, I went to my friend John who has pretty much everything (and has contributed a few albums to this blog) and naturally he had these singles. So, thanks to John I have these singles to share.

Firstly though, let me warn you that unless you are an avid PG fan, or you are a completist, then you won't probably enjoy these. The first single Heavy Heart/No Way Out is very much in a similar vein to Peter's 1970 album End Of The Game. That is, they are instrumental tracks and certainly not in the league of Albatross. To be honest Heavy Heart isn't bad. To be brutally honest No Way Out is crap. Oh well...thats just my opinion. I'm sure someone will love them.

The second single is probably more listenable. Look, I like Nigel Watson, I just don't necessarily want to hear him sing on a Peter Green single!

Of course, for those of you paying attention, you would have noticed the name Nigel Watson. Yes it was Nigel who would eventually join (coerce, force, bully, insert word of your choice here) Peter Green in the Splinter Group.

Oh how I miss the Splinter Group.
