Peter Green - Singles
In 1971 Peter Green released a single Heavy Heart with the B side being No Way Out. A year later he released a single Beasts of Burden with the flip side being Uganda Woman.
Now these four songs are pretty hard to come by, so when I received a request through the blog, I went to my friend John who has pretty much everything (and has contributed a few albums to this blog) and naturally he had these singles. So, thanks to John I have these singles to share.
Firstly though, let me warn you that unless you are an avid PG fan, or you are a completist, then you won't probably enjoy these. The first single Heavy Heart/No Way Out is very much in a similar vein to Peter's 1970 album End Of The Game. That is, they are instrumental tracks and certainly not in the league of Albatross. To be honest Heavy Heart isn't bad. To be brutally honest No Way Out is crap. Oh well...thats just my opinion. I'm sure someone will love them.
The second single is probably more listenable. Look, I like Nigel Watson, I just don't necessarily want to hear him sing on a Peter Green single!
Of course, for those of you paying attention, you would have noticed the name Nigel Watson. Yes it was Nigel who would eventually join (coerce, force, bully, insert word of your choice here) Peter Green in the Splinter Group.
Oh how I miss the Splinter Group.

Beasts of Burden is an awesome track and you wonder if this could have been a hit if it had come before Heavy Heart. Peter and Nigel swap vocals on this but the latter's voice would always compare badly as Peter had a really soulful and expressive voice. His singing was always much underrated
They are defintely hard to find! No Way Out just sounds terrible though.
I do like Nigel Watson on Beast of Burden but the comment about him comparing badly to Peter is so true.
