Yesterday I made a comment on the blog that if anyone had "The Ballad of Fred the Pixie" then my FM related collection would be another step closer to being complete. John who yesterday sent me the two Bob Weston albums sent me this one as well (is there anything that John doesn't have in his record collection?).
Hmm...this has to be the weirdest album I have ever heard. I normally like the fun of Brunning's albums (think "I Met This Bird In Playboy", Big Belly Blues, Simple Simon, etc) which seem to be a common theme through Tramp and Brunning Sunflower. However this album is just plain weird.
The songs follow the life of the unknown subject, pretty much conception to death. Some of the songs are actually ok (Break My Heart for example), but in the main the album grates.
Sure, someone will undoubtedly like it. Once again, if you are a completist like John is and I'm trying to be, then you need to have it in your collection. Brunning contributed to much better albums than this.
