Released in 1981 (a very good and prolific year for Mac members), 'Whatcha Gonna Do?' was Peter's fourth solo album, although by this stage the decline was evident. None of the songs on this album were written by Peter, instead being penned by his brother Mike.
Peter's solo albums are generally more hit than miss. In later years his work with the Splinter Group was quite enjoyable, but his earlier solo albums had better guitar playing. None of it comes close to what he did between joining John Mayall's Bluesbreakers and quitting Fleetwood Mac.
Peter Green should actually be brought out to schools as part of an anti-drug campaign. "Hey kids this is what happens if you take too much LSD".
There is, throughout the history of Fleetwood Mac, a common thread of alcohol or substance abuse including Peter Green, Danny Kirwan, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Stevie Nicks, Bob Welch, Dave Walker and probably others as well.
I might think of myself as a Fleetwood Mac collector, but I just noticed while writing this blog post that I don't actually have White Sky by Peter Green. Not sure how that one slipped through my fingers. Anyway, have to go and rectify that now. ;-)
