Now the title of this album is curious. I'm wondering whether there was a rumour that Dave Mason was dead and the album title was in reply? Perhaps Dave was so boring on stage people thought he was dead? Either way, I'm glad that Dave Mason is actually Alive because if he wasn't I can't imagine that this album would be all that exciting. Okay, so it isn't anyway.
Of all the Fleetwood Mac members, Dave Mason is my least favourite. Even Christine McVie ranks higher. One of the things that really really annoys me about Dave is the number of live and compliation albums that he has released. Obviously the guy hasn't done many good songs, but how many versions of 'Feelin' Alright' do we actually need? Or of 'Only You Know And I Know'? I personally happen to have seven versions of each by Dave.
The other thing that annoys me about Dave is that I KNOW he can play that guitar. I have seen clips of him playing with Jimi Hendrix. I know he's got talent. So where the hell is it? Why doesn't he release some new stuff? The last studio album was 1987 before he joined Fleetwood Mac. To be fair, it is 2008 and a new album is due out in October. For those who can't wait, he has also released a new LIVE album. Arrrgggghhh!!!
My wife wants to know why I have all of his studio albums when I don't actually like the guy very much. Don't get me wrong, Dave has done some good stuff, but you could probably fit it all on a double CD and that is pretty sad for a guy who has been around for the past 40+ years.
However, despite my lack of enthusiasm for Dave, he was a Mac member and deserves the same chance on this blog as any other member. Also, this is only my opinion, and others seem to rave about him.

Many thanks for this. I've been looking for it for so long I'd given up. I bought the vinyl when it first came out and loved it, particularly the guitar on "Walk To The Point". I long ago copied my vinyl to cassette, then to CD etc but I guess my record deck wasn't that great so I had a pretty poor copy. Cleaned up, this one sounds great.
If you're still looking for it, "Live At Perkins Palace" can be found at:
